Real Estate Magazine

The Most Frequent Question I Get “What should I invest in?”

There is one question that I have gotten so often from people across all walks of life that my answer has become automatic. That question is “What should I invest it?”, and my answer has always been “real estate”! Why? Because, after having spent more than 3 decades on the inside of this industry, if there is one thing I can say with total confidence it is that a well-researched, and well-timed investment in real estate is a reliable and safe bet for any investor.
And, as the numbers prove, India shares my enthusiasm for real estate!

In 2025, CNBC released a report that investigated the investment habits of urban Indians and over 50.7% of people surveyed had invested money in real estate. The sale of luxury houses alone jumped by 88% in the final quarter of FY 2024-25. Even if we look at data across India, the story remains the same. The total financial value of all assets held by Indian households is over 11 trillion USD. 51% of this value comes from real estate. Gold, the next closest, makes up only 15%.

So, the data is clear – Indians trust real estate. But, why?

What investors need more than anything else is certainty and stability. The rising and falling of the stock market makes too many people too wary to invest in it, for instance, and the story is much the same with the gold and FDs. So, where do people turn for financial stability? The historical answer has always been real estate – and it remains true even for modern India.

Real estate has regularly provided more robust, more reliable, and more predictable ROI than any alternative investment method. According to many experts in the field, another reason that Indians of all social strata have historically preferred to invest in real estate rather than equity is because Indians generally mistrust equity due to its volatility.

India is on the cusp, it is in fact almost over the edge, of a sharp and predictable financial boom. Markers, such those that I have spoken about today, are clear and undeniable indicators of it. The Indian real estate market is going to be worth 1 trillion USD by 2030 – almost certainly earlier. The question that I now get, therefore, is not “what should I invest in?”

The question now is “what is the best property that I should invest in?”
